Eight kilo-
metres south of Greymouth and 2km inland from SH6, Shantytown re-creates a 1860s
gold-mining town, complete with steam-train rides, post office, pub and Rosie's House of
Ill Repute. There's also gold panning, a flying fox, sawmill, a gory hospital and 10-minute
holographic movies in the Princess Theatre.
