In-Depth Information
Operators of web sites need to ensure that software is kept up to date, and
access rules are restricted to an appropriate level. Log files need to be checked
periodically to see who is accessing the web site, and the hosting computer
needs to be monitored for unauthorized software.
Alternatively, instead of developing an online survey on your own, an easier and
sometimes more cost-effective route is to use an online survey service. Using a
service eliminates the need to manage a web server and database; but it also lim-
its your access to the data to whatever method is provided by the service. There
are many services and these services expand every day. Arguably, the best place to
begin is to do an online search for online survey providers. At present, there are
services such as Psychdata (www.psychdata.net) that are designed to meet the
needs of a specific research community (in this case, Psychology researchers).
Random Stimulus Assignment
(within a survey)
Random Stimulus Assignment allows you to present 1 of X stimuli (text,
images or links to other files) to each participant who takes your sur-
vey. The system automatically records (in your survey data) which
stimulus was presented to each participant.
Here's how it looks in the Survey Editor:
