flow water stayed between the banks. Observed data were not available to calibrate
the model for these three simulations; therefore, it seems that these results offer
only an idea about the area and river change and show critical places with high
flow propagation, velocity, and water depth. Figure 6.36 shows the simulation
results for different years from 1957 to 2008.
In general, the following results are obtained from the river change scenario:
(a) Lower near-bank velocity in the environmental part of the river is maybe
because of the contribution of vegetation on the banks to higher roughness.
(b) No inundation was observed in natural part of the river. Probably, the vege-
tation on the banks has a small contribution to overall flow resistance.
Restoring vegetation along the river would increase hydraulic resistance.
(c) The right bank was always much more sensitive to the velocity.
