the area. Based on available data, the maximum snow depth was recorded in
September 2001.
In addition to the previously mentioned influence of the Mediterranean climate
and the mild continental and mountain climate, the area is also affected by a warm
dry wind coming from the south, called ''Sirocco'', which causes high snowmelt in
spring and then high discharge in the Ubaye River [ 6 ].
