Summary
This chapter provided a detailed discussion of the various ways for an enterprise to connect
to the Internet. The requirements for each method were discussed, such as having an offi-
cially assigned ASN and registered address space, in addition to the general methodology
for defining traffic policy. Additional issues that can arise when multihoming, such as pro-
vider summarization and peer filtering, were also explained.
The case study showed how to deploy a complicated Internet connectivity scenario that
included multiple providers with various-sized connections to the upstream providers. A
complex traffic policy was implemented with a simple configuration. Multihoming itself is
not difficult when the desired traffic policy is well-defined and you understand the available
tools.
