Most people head straight to Havelock (?195, 2½ hours), with ferries departing daily at
6.20am, 11.30am and 2pm.
Otherwise there's the privately owned Makruzz ( www.makruzz.com ; from ?775) , departing daily
at 8.45am (1½ hours). Tickets are available from the airport or travel agents in Aberdeen
Bazaar.
There are also daily services to Neil Island and Little Andaman, which regularly sell
out, and several boats a week to Diglipur and Long Island.
Those not wanting to hang around Port Blair should make the jetty their first port of
call to book tickets.
BUS
There are buses all day from the bus stand at Aberdeen Bazaar to Wandoor (?18, one hour)
and Chiriya Tapu (?18, one hour). Two buses run at 4am and 4.15am to Diglipur (?230, 12
hours) and 4.30am for Mayabunder (?180, 10 hours) via Rangat (?130, six hours) and
Baratang (?80, three hours). More-comfortable, and pricier, private buses are also avail-
able; their 'offices' (a guy with a ticket book) are located across from the main bus stand.
Getting Around
TO & FROM THE AIRPORT
A taxi or autorickshaw from the airport to Aberdeen Bazaar costs around ?70. There are
also hourly buses (?10) to/from airport, located 100m outside the complex, to the main
bus stand.
AUTORICKSHAW
Aberdeen Bazaar to Phoenix Bay Jetty is about ?20, and to Haddo Jetty it's around ?40.
MOTORBIKE
You can hire a scooter from Green Island Tours for ?400 per day.
