A wonderful lodge 8km
southwest of Masinagudi, in a converted coffee warehouse on a coffee plantation with
many tall trees that give it a deep-in-the-forest feel. Cosy rooms (two of them up in the
trees) and excellent meals complement the two-hour morning and evening jeep safaris
(?2750), on which you can expect to see a very good variety of wildlife.

sorts in the area, with accommodation in sturdy bamboo huts or lovingly built stone cot-
tages or even a high treehouse, all spread out to give a feeling of seclusion. The bar, res-
taurant and common area are great places to meet fellow travellers, and the owners are
knowledgeable and friendly. The beautiful pool has a stunning setting, and elephants and
leopards have been known to visit it for a drink.

Forest Hills is a family-run, family-
sized guesthouse (14 rooms on 5 hectares) with a few cute bamboo huts and treehouses,
some clean spacious rooms, and a watchtower room that's great for wildlife-watching and
birdwatching. There's a slight colonial-era air here with a gazebo-style bar, games rooms
and evening bonfires.

Along with
spacious rooms in cottages scattered around a large property, and a sociable common area,
this welcoming resort has probably the best food in Bokkapuram (if you're visiting the
restaurant from another resort after dark, don't walk home on your own!). A herd of chital
deer grazes the grounds morning and evening, and jeep safaris, treks and birdwatching
walks can be organised.
