Beach
The beach fronting the village isn't exactly pristine and gets downright grubby in some
spots, but south of the Shore Temple it clears into very fine sand. You'll also be further
away from the leers of men who spend their days gawking at tourists. Like most of Tamil
Nadu's coast, these beaches are not great for swimming, as there are dangerous rips.
Therapies
Numerous places offer massage, reiki, yoga and ayurvedic practices.

45min massage ?700-900, 1hr yoga ?200) offers massages and ayurvedic treatments (with male ther-
apists for men and female for women), as well as yoga sessions at 7am and 7pm. Several
other operators in town have similar rates and timings. As always, and especially for such
an intimate service, ask fellow travellers, question the therapist carefully and if you have
any misgivings, don't proceed.
The Radisson resort has a branch of the popular ayurvedic treatment centre Ayush as
well as a spa with a wide range of massages, mud rubs and more - both open to
nonguests.
