Kovalam is chock-a-block with hotels, though budget places here cost more than usual
and are becoming a dying breed in high season. Beachfront properties are the most ex-
pensive, but look out for smaller places tucked away in the labyrinth of paths behind the
beach among the palm groves and rice paddies; they're often much better value. All
places offer big discounts outside the December-January high season, but call ahead in
peak times.

plex feels a little faded but it's quiet and good value at this price. Rooms are simple, but
the upper rooms have good views from the front terraces.

bished rooms in a multilevel complex just back from the beach. It's not flash but rooms
have lots of natural light and the larger upstairs rooms have a balcony.
