at the main train station. While most major trains arrive and de-
part at Trivandrum Central Station close to the city centre, some express services termin-
ate at Vikram Sarabhai Station (Kochuveli), about 7km north of the city - check in ad-
vance.
Within Kerala there are frequent express trains to Varkala (sleeper/3AC ?57/175, one
hour), Kollam (?64/175, 1¼ hours) and Ernakulam (?128/342, 4½ hours), with trains
passing through either Alleppey (?120/267, three hours) or Kottayam (?120/313, 3½
hours). There are also numerous daily services to Kanyakumari (sleeper/3AC ?120/218,
three hours).
