, one of the nicest stretches of India's east coast, 10km north of town, is the

long Indian navy submarine
Kursura
saw battle in 1971 during the Liberation War (when
India sided with East Pakistan in its struggle for independence). The museum is a fascinat-
ing look inside the vessel and its jumble of knobs, switches, gauges and dials.
Simhachalam Temple

Dedicated to Narasimha, an incarnation of Vishnu, this important 11th-
century temple is atop Simhachalam (literally 'lion hill') 10km northwest of town. Bus
6A/H goes here.
