The busy regional town of Hospet is the main transport hub for Hampi. Unless you're
wanting to stay in an upmarket hotel, few choose to linger in Hospet as it's a dusty, unat-
tractive town with not much going on.

Getting There & Away
BUS
The bus stand has services to Hampi every half-hour (?15, 30 minutes). Several express
buses run to Bengaluru (ordinary/deluxe ?290/412, nine hours). Buses for Gokarna (?315,
eight hours) depart at 9.15am, or take a bus to Hubli (?108, 4½ hours) and change. Two
buses head to Badami (?180, four hours) at 1pm and 1.30pm. There are frequent buses to
