Margao (also known by its train station name of Madgaon) is the main population centre of
south Goa and for travellers is chiefly a transport hub, with the state's major train and bus
stations. Although lacking much of Panaji's charm, it's a bustling market town of a man-
ageable size for getting things done, or for simply enjoying the busy energy of urban India
without big-city hassles.
