Tourism Development Corporation has its head office in Mumbai. Most major towns
throughout the state have offices, too, but they're generally only useful for booking
MTDC accommodation and tours. Sunday is not a business day, and many government of-
fices also remain closed on alternate Saturdays.

Airports
Mumbai is the main international gateway to South India and has the busiest network of
domestic flights. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM; 66851010; www.csia.in ) , about
30km from the city centre, has been undergoing a $2 billion modernisation since its
privatisation in 2006. At press time, the shiny new terminal T2, serving both domestic and
international flights, was expected to open in 2014 and the existing domestic terminals
converted to cargo.
At time of writing, the airport comprises three domestic (1A, 1B and 1C;) and two in-
ternational terminals (2B and 2C;). The domestic side is accessed via Vile Parle and is
known locally as Santa Cruz airport, while the international, with its entrance 5km away
