In-Depth Information
February
Not a good month for air pollution and it's still cold, but the end of the Spring Festival means winter is drawing to
a close.
Valentine's Day
China has its own festival for lovers (held on the seventh day of the seventh month of the
lunar year), but it's not nearly as popular as the Western version, Valentine's Day ( Qíngrén
Jié). Book ahead if you want to eat out.
Lantern Festival
Celebrated 15 days after the first day of the Spring Festival, the Lantern Festival (
Yuánxiāo Jié ) is a very colourful time to visit Běijīng, as the Chinese devour yuánxiāo
(glutinous rice dumplings with sweet fillings), while firework shows explode all over town.
