Embassies (
dàshǐguǎn
) in Běijīng are open from 9am to noon and from 1.30pm to 4pm
Monday to Friday, but visa departments, which are often in separate office blocks these
days (check the embassy website), are sometimes only open in the morning. There are
three main embassy areas: Jiànguóménwài, Sānlǐtún and Liàngmǎqiáo.
Note, it has become increasingly common in recent years for embassies to turn down
visa applications from foreigners who do not live in China. It's always preferable to ar-
range visas from your home country, if at all possible.
