excellent value for the location (off Sanlitun Lu) and are kept clean and tidy. Staff mem-
bers speak some English and are friendly considering how rushed off their feet they usu-
ally are. There's internet via a cable inside rooms. Wi-fi is in the lobby only.

hard to discern the advertised '60s retro-chic style, but this snazzy boutique hotel is cer-
tainly distinctive, from its deep purples, charcoal blacks, satins, floral prints and crushed
velvet to the fibre-optics by the lobby elevators. Peruse the soothing pillow menu (six
varieties) to complement the gorgeously comfortable beds, snap your iPod into the dock-
ing station and Bob's your uncle. The ground-floor bar-restaurant Scarlett (open 6am to
2am) is very smart.
