part of town, and is always busy day and night with expat Korean students looking for a
taste of home. The various hotpots, including the classic shíguō bànfàn (rice, vegetables,
meat and an egg served in a claypot), start at ¥35, or you can grill your own meat and fish
at your table. Picture menu.

( 6266 6180; 5th fl, Wǔdàokǒu U-Centre, 36 Chengfu Lu, 5 meals for 2 ¥70; 10am-10pm; Wudaokou) The
speciality here is málàxiāngguō , a kind of dry hotpot where you add your own meat, fish

choose from three different levels of spice; go for the lowest if you can't handle the heat.

( Rìběn Liàolǐ Yī Xīn; 6119 3606; Room 403, West Bldg, 35 Chengfu Lu, 403 sushi from ¥12; lunch & dinner;
; Wudaokou) Just off an unpromising-looking road, about 50m north of the traffic lights
at the intersection of Chengfu Lu and Wudaokou station, Isshin is well worth tracking
down if you're in the area. With its thoughtful design, laid-back atmosphere and reasonable
prices, it's a place where business types, expat Japanese and students can all feel at home.
The sushi bowls (¥48), including salad, are a great deal. The extensive menu includes hot-
pots, udon noodles and teriyaki dishes.
