barman here mixes one of the best mojitos (¥55) in town.
HÚTÒNG CAFES
Cute wi-fi cafes have been all the rage in Běijīng for some time now and these days there are dozens of excel-
lent ones, particularly in and around the
hútòng
alleys of North Dōngchéng. Some are housed in converted
courtyards, most have free wi-fi, fresh coffee (from ¥20), well-priced local beer (from ¥10) and a limited choice
of mostly Western food (dishes from ¥30). They are also among the cheapest places in Běijīng to sample
Chinese tea (from ¥20 per cup, with unlimited refills), although their selection is usually limited to just four or
five different types. Here are our current favourites:
