In-Depth Information
» Table Tennis At Jǐngshān Table Tennis Park you'll find a host of spritely octogenarians
queuing up to give you a ping-pong thrashing.
Getting There & Away
» Subway Tian'anmen West, Tian'anmen East, Wangfujing and Denghshikou are all use-
ful subway stations, and the handy Line 8 extension south to the Chinese Museum of Art
should be up and running by the time you read this.
» Bus Bus 5 runs south from the Drum Tower, passing Jǐngshān Park, the west side of the
Forbidden City and Tiān'ānmén Sq. Buses 1 and 2 go from the north gate of the Forbid-
den City down to Tiān'ānmén Sq, handy if you left your bikes near the south entrance, or
want to hook up with the subway system.
Lonely Planet's Top Tip
Be very wary of rickshaw drivers outside the north gate of the Forbidden City; they regularly trick tourists into
paying over the odds. As a rough indicator, you shouldn't be paying much more than ¥20 per rickshaw to get
from here to the Drum Tower.
