stage; it just needs to prevent excess moisture from entering or exiting the bucket. Even though the
container is covered, you will want to make sure to leave it in an area that is protected from pets
or critters to save yourself some unnecessary cleanup down the line. About four weeks later, you
should have a usable soil product.
Nowwaitandletthemicrobesyouaddedviathesoilgotoworkonthepre-compost.Assuming
thatthebucketiskeptaround60-80°F,itshouldtakefourweeksforthescrapstobreakdownsome
more, assimilate into the soil, and rise in pH. Like at the fermentation stage, the warmer the better,
sincemoresoilmicrobesaremoreactiveatwarmertemperatures.Duringthefinishingprocess,you
may see white mycelium appear on the soil, but don't worry — this is normal and a good sign.
