The expression of the best individual of this generation (chromosome 15)
is shown in Figure 8.7. It encodes the parameter value x 0 = 1.85531, which
corresponds to the output f ( x 0 ) = 2.82954, reaching a new height in the solu-
tion space. Note again that this individual is not related to the best of the
previous generations; it is rather a direct descendant of chromosome 15 of
generation 3, the third best of its generation. Indeed, in the GEP-PO system,
all newly created individuals have a past history that can be easily traced
back to its ancestors in the initial population.
