It was discovered in generation 4948 of run 44 and has a fitness of 7.42215
and an R-square of 0.8915609535. Note that it codes for an expression tree
with 17 nodes and that most of the function nodes are “F2”, one of the sim-
plest bivariate polynomials. Indeed, the analysis of the structures of the best-
of-run solutions shows that less verbose functions work much better than the
more complicated ones, as they are preferentially selected as building blocks.
The best-of-experiment solution designed with the GEP-ESM was cre-
ated in generation 4972 of run 19. Its three genes and respective arrays of
random constants are shown below:
