15.4 Summary
The PI controller implemented in the synchronously rotating reference ( dq ) frame can work
well with balanced linear loads. However, its performance deteriorates when non-linear local
loads are connected to the system because there is no mechanism in the controller to deal
with harmonics. It is possible to extend the strategy to unbalanced systems if the positive- and
negative-sequence current components are considered separately (Blaabjerg et al . 2006).
