thanks to their archaeological, cultural and historical significance. Aside from the locations described below, the
honour includes the ancient dome-shaped tombs at the foot of Mt Jebel Hafeet, which are not yet open for visit-

Al Ain Oasis OFFLINE MAP ( 763 0155; www.adach.ae ; off Zayed bin Sultan St ) A marked
route leads through this 3000-acre date palm oasis, an atmospheric labyrinth of shaded walkways and cultivated
plots irrigated by a traditional falaj (underground system of tunnels). There are nearly 150,000 date palms here,
along with mango, almond, banana and fig trees. Look for the ruins of an ancient fortress and a mosque as well as
date storage containers.
Hili Archaeological Park ( www.adach.ae ; Hili,; 10am-1pm, families only 4-11pm) This nicely
landscaped park is the largest Bronze Age complex in the UAE, dating back some 4000 years. Use the knowledge
you've gained at Al Ain National Museum to make better sense of the archaeological remains, including the
foundations of a tower and mudbrick buildings as well as the restored circular Grand Tomb with its decorative
carvings. It's about 10km north of central Al Ain, en route to Dubai, and served by bus 900.
Bida Bint Saud A 40m-high rock dominates this isolated site, about 15km north of central Al Ain, with com-
munal tombs at its top and smaller circular tombs, some dating back 3000 years, at its base. To get there, follow
Mohammed bin Khalifa St to Hwy E95 to the village of Bida Bint Saud.
