Shopping
Dubai has just about perfected the art of the mall, which is the de facto, air-conditioned
'town commons', the place to go with the family and friends to chat, eat, shop and take in
some entertainment. For local colour, head to the souqs in Deira and Bur Dubai, which
can be a font for souvenirs, as is tourist-geared Souq Madinat Jumeirah. Jumeirah Beach
Rd (near the Jumeirah Mosque) has some indie boutiques with designer labels, while
Karama is famous for offering knock-off versions of the same.
