displayed buffet in this airy restaurant would be a good place to start a culinary investiga-
tion. Resist the temptation to fill up on the delicious mezze (appetisers) so you can try
some of the hot dishes and fresh breads streaming from the open kitchen. The curious
name, by the way, means 'mint' in Arabic and is pronounced 'nana'.

sensuous Colonial-era vibe at this upmarket French-Vietnamese restaurant where the fla-

sea bass or mud crab with sweet Thai basil and wrap up with chocolate fondant with rasp-
berries.

Jumeirah restaurants draw wealthy locals and tourists. Those at Madinat Jumeirah gener-
ally have good-quality food and are the most scenic, if pricey. For local flavour and su-
perb ethnic eats, head inland to Satwa.
