HEJAZ
Meaning 'barrier', the region derives its name from the great escarpment that runs along
Hejaz, separating it from the great plateaux of the interior. Historically, Hejaz has always
seen itself as separate from the rest of the Kingdom. Outward looking and cosmopolitan,
