Islands
These government-protected rocky islands about an hour's boat ride off the coast of
Sawadi are rich in marine life and make an exciting destination for snorkelling and diving.
Turtles feed off the coral gardens here and at certain times of the year can be found con-
gregating in large numbers. Angel and parrot fish are commonly seen and colourful sea
snakes are another feature of the area - though be warned, the latter are highly dangerous
if disturbed. Day trips (from OR18 for snorkelling, OR37 for diving with your own equip-
ment) can either be arranged through Extra Divers at Al-Sawadi Beach Resort or through
one of the dive centres in Muscat.
