Part of a small chain of Omani-style res-
taurants, this is one of the few places where you have the opportunity to sample local
dishes. It is just a pity that the restaurant hasn't risen to the challenge of increased tourists
looking for an authentic experience because the rather grubby private rooms are not the
best ambience for dinner on the ground. Still, it's worth a try.

Banks and money changers are along the main street that runs from the fort complex to
the topic roundabout. The post office is inside the souq.

Getting There & Away
ONTC buses run from Muscat to Nizwa Souq (OR1.900, two hours 20 minutes, 8am and
2.30pm daily). Buses for Muscat from Nizwa leave at 8am and 5.30pm.
You can catch the bus from Muscat to Salalah at 8.30am, noon and 9pm. The fare from
Nizwa to Salalah is OR6, and the journey takes 10 hours. Telephone the

Engaged-taxi/shared-taxi/microbus fares from Nizwa to Rusayl roundabout in Muscat
are OR20/4/2 (to Ruwi add OR1.500/1). Nizwa to Ibri costs OR20/3/2 by engaged taxi/
shared taxi/microbus.
Coming from Muscat, the bus stop and taxi stand are in the middle of the wadi in front
of the fort complex, 800m past the
khanjar
round-about. When the wadi is flowing, the
road is impassable at this point, hence the bridge further upstream that leads to the topic
roundabout. Buses for Ibri leave from the topic roundabout. Buses for Salalah leave from
the outskirts of Nizwa at the Farq roundabout.
Microbuses (300 baisa) link the hotels that lie along Hwy 15, the old Muscat-Nizwa
road, with the town centre.
