There is still no official tourist information office in Kuwait despite rumours to the con-
trary. However, the Kuwait Touristic Enterprises Company ( 180 6806; www.kuwaittourism.com ; Ice-
skating Rink, Al-Soor St & First Ring Rd, Shamiya) is a private company with many years of experien-
ce in supplying tourist information and is an oracle of entertainment in the city. The Kuwait
Government Online ( www.e.gov.kw ) website also has some useful information for visitors. The
website of Kuwait Tourism Services Company ( www.ktsc-q8.com ) includes information on the
Kuwaiti lifestyle.
TRAVEL AGENCIES
Lots of small travel agencies, including Al-Ghanim Travel, are to be found on Fahad al-
Salem and Al-Soor Sts, between Al-Jahra Gate and the Radio and TV building.

Getting There & Away
Kuwait is more or less a city-state so the information for getting to and from Kuwait City
is the same as that for getting to Kuwait in general, and is located under the Survival sec-
tion ( Click here ) .
Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
Orange taxis charge a flat KD7 between the airport (16km south of the city) and the city
centre. It's a 20- to 30-minute journey. Buses 13 and 501 run between the main bus station
and the airport every half-hour from 5.30am to 9pm daily (250 fils). Car-rental agencies
have booths on the ground floor of the airport.
BUS
Two main public bus services operate in Kuwait City: Kuwait Public Transport Company (KPTC;
2232 8501; www.kptc.com.kw ) and City Bus (KPTC City Bus; 2232 8501; www.transportkuwait.com/city-
bus.html ) . They both run air-conditioned buses with fares ranging from 200 fils to 350 fils
between the hours of 5am to 10pm.
Note that the front seats of these buses are reserved for women.
