governance arrangements across government agencies, and non-governmental
catchment or river basin level agencies.
We hope that, should we (or others) prepare an updated version of this
topic at some time in the future, many more examples of good practice will
be included. Although there has been major progress in implementing water
reform around the world, we limited our examples to Australia and a few
other regions, and acknowledge that more examples exist and will be reported
over time. We suggest that assessment according to these guidelines will help
identify good practices.
We hope that the principles, guidelines, and logic framework for water
resource planning, supported by examples, will lead to improved outcomes
for the resource, benefits for humankind, and less conflict in getting there.
