In the December to March summer period, accommodation prices tend to double, but
year-round sun means that this is one of the few coastal resort towns that doesn't turn into
a ghost town at less-popular times. High-season rates are given here.
SUNSET HOTEL $$$
( 25-8111; www.sunsetmancora.com ; Antique Panamericana 196; s/d incl breakfast S180/250;
) The intimate, boutique-styled Sunset wouldn't be out of place on the cover of a
glossy travel mag. It has aqua-themed rock sculptures and good-sized rooms with solid
mattresses, hot showers, balconies and views of the seascape. The pool, however, is tiny
and the ocean access, rocky. Though a short walk brings you to a sandy beach - if you can
tear yourself away from the hotel's Italian restaurant, one of the area's best.

220; ) A wonderfully friendly place offering up slick dwellings colored in warm or-
ange and yellow tones and constructed with lots of gently curving lines. Half the room in-
teriors are dressed in smoothed exposed concrete - all have hot water, arty bits and a bal-
cony with a hammock. An inviting two-story lounge hangs out over the sea.

CLARO DE LUNA $$
( 25-8080; www.clarodelunamancora.com ; Antigua Panamericana Km 1216; s/d incl breakfast S130/
220; ) This spot gets rave reviews for its cozy, down-home atmosphere. Of the
nine rooms, five face the sea and four face a small garden. The whole place channels a
vague Santorini aesthetic. Two pools, a movie projection room, kayaks and an oceanside
patio/lounge round out the picture.

of one of Peru's most famous chefs, Teresa Ocampo. He carries on the family tradition at
the fabulous restaurant here, but beyond that, he's also an artist and photographer whose
work gives unique personality to each of the rooms.
