LAS TERMAS
(admission S10; 5am-8:30pm) Weary trekkers soak away their aches in the town's hot
springs, 10 minutes' walk up Pachacutec from the train tracks. These tiny, natural springs
are nice enough but get scummy by late morning. Towels can be rented cheaply outside
the entrance.

PUTUCUSI
For those who still have energy left for trekking, the steep hike up this toothy mini-moun-
tain, directly opposite Machu Picchu, is highly recommended. Follow the railway tracks
about 250m west of town and you'll see a set of stairs; this is the start of a well-marked
trail. Parts of the walk are up ladders, which get slippery in the wet season, but the view
across to Machu Picchu is worth the trek. Allow three hours.

Sleeping
Because of its strategic location, expect to pay more for lodgings here than on average.
