The nearest airport is in Juliaca, about an hour away. Hotels can book you a shuttle bus for

Boat
Ferries for the various Lake Titicaca islands depart daily from the port (Av del Puerto) . See

Bus
The terminal terrestre ( 36-4737; Primero de Mayo 703) houses Puno's long-distance buses
traveling to Cuzco, Arequipa and beyond. Recommended companies include:

The most enjoyable way to get to Cuzco is via Inka Express Offline map Google map (
36-5654; www.inkaexpress.com ; Tacna 346) , which offers luxury buses with panoramic win-
dows, as well as an English-speaking guide and oxygen. The trip takes eight hours and
costs S143.
There is a departure tax of S1.
Train
The fancy Andean Explorer train, which includes a glass-walled observation car and
lunch, costs US$150. Trains depart from Puno's train station ( 36-9179;
www.perurail.com ; Av La Torre 224; 7am-noon & 3-6pm Mon-Fri, 7am-3pm Sat) at 8am, arriving at
Cuzco around 6pm. Services run on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from November to
March, with an extra departure on Friday from April to October. Tickets can be purchased
online.
Getting Around
A short taxi ride anywhere in town (and as far as the transport terminals) costs S4. Moto-
taxis are a bit cheaper at S2.
