1 EL CORDANO
Located in downtown Lima, this old-world cafe ( Click here ) is in the middle of some
of the city's most important historic sights. Order the sandwich de jamón serrano (Per-
uvian ham sandwich) with marinated onions and accompany it with a tall glass of
chicha morada (a sweet, purple corn punch). Want something stronger? The bar is
renowned for a cocktail known as the 'Capitán' - pisco with red vermouth and Cin-
zano.
2 RESTAURANT HUACA PUCLLANA
This high-end Miraflores restaurant ( Click here ) has incredible views of the Huaca
Pucllana pre-Columbian site and some award-winning dishes - including a renowned
lomo saltado (stir-fry of beef with potatoes and onions). Vegetarians will enjoy the
quinoa dishes, including a salad of fava beans, corn and peppers.
3 CENTRAL
This fashionable restaurant ( Click here ) is run by the chef of the moment, Virgilio
Martínez. He is known for his global fusion cooking - all very dramatically presented
- and his roast suckling pig is terrific. Order the menú degustación if you can't make
up your mind which dish to pick.
