According to Yoshida (1973) effects of temperature on
growth of IR8 in a controlled environment, in general, growth
rate, relative growth rate, tillering rate increased gradually with
the temperature under experiment (Figs. 11 & 12).
However, the growth effi ciency (defi ned as the ratio of
produced dry matter to the sum of produced dry matter and
respiratory consumption) of rice seedlings germinated in dark
