In-Depth Information
In this scenario, though quite a large number of research
work had been carried out in the last fi fty years throughout the
world, many aspects await fi ndings to come up to understand
the facet totally. For example, though there are many screening
techniques, because of the complex nature of the scientifi c
problem of cold tolerance in rice, only one method is not
enough to identify the tolerant variety at all stage of life cycle.
It may also be mentioned that the control conditions of plant
do not often match with the fi eld condition because of diurnal
variations, micro climate changes and other abiotic variations.
It is expected that efforts in future especially genetic and
biotechnology will pave the way for an excellent plant type
to cope with the problem in general and enhance the rice
production to a new high in this cold areas.
