Rice can be grown in different agro-environment, in general
classifi ed as,
1. Lowland, rainfed
2. Lowland, irrigated
3. Deepwater
4. Coastal wetland
5. Upland rice
There is very little opportunity to increase the area earmarked
for rice and further crop intensifi cation is constrained by limited
supply of water. Therefore, the increase in supply must mainly
