the range from 0.738 to 0.901. However, under the cold stress
environments, the correlation coeffi cients were higher than
those without cold stress. On the other hand, the heredity
analysis suggested that specifi c spikelet fertility could replace
spikelet fertility as an identifi cation indicator, while panicle
exsertion could be used as a partial indicator of cold tolerance
identifi cation at the booting stage in rice (Dai et al. 2002).
The percentage of filled grains depends on the grain
fi lling rate and grain fi lling duration of superior and inferior
grains, which may be fast synchronous, slow synchronous
or asynchronous. Grain weight of superior grains followed
'S' curve with faster fi lling rate, while that of inferior grains
continuously increased during the filling stage linearly
(Fig. 33).
