person that has followed you on any of those social networks over the years will see your
link and (hopefully) check out your new article. In other words, if you are posting one new
article per week, that means you will update each of your social networks once a week too.
Hopefully your followers on each of your social networks will re-share your post, giving
your article (and blog) more exposure.
2. Share this article on your preferred social network.
With this suggestion, I'm asking the reader not to follow me on a social network, but to
share the post on their social network. This is how posts go viral: by being shared on social
media platforms. And a post going viral is something every blogger should hope for.
For this task, I like to use the plugin Slick Social Share Buttons by Lee Chestnutt. This
plugin will add the social share buttons of your choice to posts or pages (or both) on your
website.

Once the plugin is installed, the social share buttons will look like this (although you can
change where and how it looks in the settings):
