How to Buy a Domain(s) and Hosting

There are two things you need to buy in order to own and operate a live website: the domain
and the hosting. The domain of the website is the URL or the website address (i.e.

. A standard domain will cost you about $15 / year.
The hosting is where all the information and content of your website is stored. This inform-
ation is stored on a server somewhere (a server is basically a giant computer) and you pay
to rent out some of the space. A standard hosting package will cost you about $10 - $20 /
month. Those are the bare essential costs associated with owning and operating a live port-
folio of websites (and therefore, an online business).
