Delivery of nasal aerosols as dry powders may prolong the residence time
in the nasal cavity and hence enhance the systemic absorption of drugs. An
OptiNose breath-actuated bi-directional nasal delivery device (OptiNose AS,
Norway) has been developed for nasal delivery of powdered aerosol
formulations (Figure 17). The OptiNose is a V-shaped device with two open
ends, one is inserted in the mouth (mouthpiece) after loading the dry powder
