Fri & Sat) If you're wondering whether it's the place that's full of character or the people
running it, it's both. Llandudno's hippest tearoom serves wonderful cream teas (£4) and
three-tiered high teas (£7), along with light lunches of sandwiches, soup and jacket pota-
toes; avoid the coffee. Weekends sizzle with hot-stone dinners.

(8 Gloddaeth St; mains £4-8; 8am-4pm; ) Brown leather, dark wood, chandeliers and tight
confines conjure a faint impression of train travel's golden age, but above all this is
simply a welcoming, child-friendly cafe. The Turkish influence is equally subtle, limited
to haloumi, grilled chicken and baklava among the familiar British cafe fare.

this is where the locals head for good-value fish meals. It's probably the best bargain in
the resort town.

( www.badgerstearooms.co.uk ; Victoria Shopping Centre, Mostyn St; mains £4-7; 9.30am-5pm Mon-Sat Jan & Feb,
plus 11am-4pm Sun Mar-Dec) Something of a local institution, this traditional tearoom is best
known for its creamy afternoon teas, bara brith (a rich, fruit tea-loaf) and gooey cakes,
but it's the Edwardian attire of the staff that adds a frisson of genteel nostalgia to the ex-
perience.
