(Church St) All that remains of medieval St Edward's Church is its 14th-century bell tower,
the rest of the building was rebuilt in early Decorated style in the 19th century.
Spaceguard Centre

May-Sep) The hilltop Spaceguard Centre, in the former Powys Observatory, is a centre for
research into asteroids and comets. Tours take in the telescopes, camera obscura and plan-
etarium shows.
The centre is 1.5 miles east of town, signposted off the A4113.

Horse & Jockey Inn

coaching inn is still in the eating-drinking-sleeping game. The six upmarket en suite
rooms in the hayloft have flat-screen TVs, modern fittings, ancient exposed stone walls
and flash bathrooms. The restaurant (mains £7 to £15) serves hearty traditional fare along
with a good selection of pizzas.

ated at the top of the Narrows has two cosy rooms with cheery quilts and cushions. The
facilities are simple but the welcome here is legendary, with nothing too much trouble and
a mountain of local knowledge to mine.

Apr-Oct, 10am-4pm Mon-Sat Nov-Mar) The two-in-one tourist office and Offa's Dyke Centre is full
of information for walkers with interactive displays about the dyke, a section of which
runs behind the centre.
