cellent restaurant uses organic, locally-grown produce in its wide range of tempting
dishes. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for here as well as meat lovers. Expect
everything from buckwheat rissoles and pumpkin pancakes to beef goulash with German
bread dumplings. It's certainly one of the best places for lunch in town.
WORTH A TRIP
A CLASSIC VILLAGE PUB
A village pub par excellence, unassuming little Y Ffarmers ( 01974-261275; www.yffarmers.co.uk ; Llanfi-
hangel y Creuddyn; mains £8 -18; 6-11pm Tue, noon-2pm & 6-11pm Wed-Sat, noon-3pm Sun) is tucked
away in the undulating hills south of Aberystwyth. It's the kind of down-to-earth pub every village should have,
except this one is also renowed for its incredible food. The short, simple menu features pub classics given a mod-
ern overhaul, and every one is a feast for the senses. Seasonal local produce defines what's on offer and you can
wash it all down with some proper ale and local beers.
The pub is about 8 miles southeast of Aberystwyth. Take the A4340 out of town to the village of New Cross
and follow the signs.
Drinking & Nightlife
Thanks to its large student population, during term time Aberystwyth has a livelier night-
life than anywhere else in the northern half of the country.

wooden staircase leading to an eagle-fronted pulpit and organ pipes behind the bar.
