A real gem, the Wales
Hotel is a characterful boutique property with a strong sense of Welsh identity right on the
waterfront. Local slate features throughout, paired with rich aubergine carpets and con-
temporary styling. The hotel's small restaurant (mains £12.95 to £18.95) has an enviable
reputation and serves a good choice of local produce as well as international dishes. Meat

With its blend of Spanish, French and Welsh produce, this is a foodie's idea of
nirvana: a delicatessen out front with a cheese counter to die for and communal tables out
the back for tapas and wine. The deli platters are excellent, coming in a choice of meat,
mixed fish or cheese (£8.95). There's a set menu (two-/three-course £11/13) available at
lunchtime and large plates of tapas on offer in the evenings.
