open fire in winter and lots of memorabilia on the walls, including photos of Richard Bur-
ton filming Under Milk Wood outside (the street and nearby quay have not changed a bit).

Getting There & Away
BOAT
Stena Line ( 08447 707070; www.stenaline.co.uk ) Has two regular ferries a day, year-round (car
and driver from £79, additional adult/child £28/15, foot passenger £29, bike £10), and a
'Fastcraft' most days in July and August (car and driver from £94, other fares the same),
between Rosslare in the southeast of Ireland and Fishguard Harbour.
BUS
Buses include 412 to Haverfordwest (31 minutes), Dinas Cross (13 minutes), Newport (16
minutes), Castell Henllys (22 minutes) and Cardigan (40 minutes), and 413 to Goodwick
(two minutes), Trefin (18 minutes) and St Davids (46 minutes). See also the Strumble

TRAIN
There's a daily direct train to Fishguard Harbour from Cardiff (£24, 2½ hours) via Llanelli
(£14, 1½ hours) and Carmarthen (£8.60, 52 minutes). On Sunday there's a slower service
via Swansea (£14, two hours).
POPPIT ROCKET
Between May and September, the Poppit Rocket (405) heads three times daily in each direction from Fishguard to
Cardigan. Stops include Pwllgwaelod, Newport, Moylgrove, Poppit Sands and St Dogmaels. For the rest of the
year it only covers the stops between Newport and Cardigan (Monday, Thursday and Saturday only).
