PEMBROKESHIRE ADVENTURES
With all that wild, rugged coastline it's no surprise that water sports are a big deal in Pembrokeshire. All across
the region you'll find sailing, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, diving and kayaking operators, as well as Pem-
brokeshire's very own home-grown invention, coasteering . A combination of rock climbing, gully scrambling,
cave exploration, wave riding and cliff jumping, this demanding activity is the mainstay of the local adventure-
sports scene.
The notorious Bitches in Ramsey Sound are known as one of Britain's best white-water play spots. This tidal
race offers massive whirlpools, eddies, big wave trains and stoppers, and standing waves on higher tides. It's a
dangerous place to play, however, so consider hiring a guide for your first attempt. You'll find more information
and safety advice on www.canoewales.com/the-bitches.aspx and www.the-bitches.co.uk .
