Cambrian Inn blends old and new with exposed stonework and original beams but a de-

Getting There & Away
Both the Puffin Shuttle and bus 411 between Haverfordwest and St Davids stop here. Al-
ternatively, you can walk along the coast path from St Davids and then bus it back. Join
the coast path at Caerfai Bay (signposted from Oriel y Parc), then pick up the eastbound
path. It's about 5 miles in total.

St Davids (Tyddewi)
POP 1840
Charismatic St Davids is Britain's smallest 'city', its status ensured by the magnificent
12th-century cathedral that marks Wales' holiest site. The birth and burial place of the na-
tion's patron saint, St Davids has been a place of pilgrimage for more than 1500 years.
The setting itself has a mystical presence. The sea is just beyond the horizon on three
sides, so you're constantly surprised by glimpses of it at the ends of streets. Then there are
those strangely shaped hills in the distance, which seem to sprout from a particularly an-
cient landscape.
Dewi Sant (St David) founded a monastic community here in the 6th century, only a
short walk from where he was born at St Non's Bay. In 1124 Pope Callistus II declared
